Flash Flood in Dubai 16th January 2008

My first visit to Dubai was 2006 December. That time was winter time. We were there for 5 days and 4 out of 5 days was raining. We checked with some people there and they told us, it rain probably 4 times every year. Remember we asked the taxi driver to bring us somewhere so that we can buy few umbrellas. We went to so many shops and yet we were not able to buy even 1 umbrella. Some people said we were lucky but i felt the other way.

On 16th January 2008, few days after I relocated to Dubai. This one morning it rained. This is what happened whenever heavy rain in Dubai.

It seldom rain in Dubai and therefore they don't really have a proper draining system. I think there is no such need for them to fix the draining system, the reason is, when they are ready to fix, there's no more rain. They can't even test if they problem is solved till the next time it rains again.
